Phil Hoffman is a Venture Partner in the Education Practice of RIDGE-LANE LP.

Mr. Hoffman served as Chief Corporate Finance and Strategic Development Officer of Pearson, the largest global education company, including prior roles as Executive Vice President and Global Chief Collaboration Officer.

He also served as CEO of Learning Network (Pearson’s consumer education division), and President of Pearson Inc (Pearson’s North American operations), as well as Chief Financial Officer of Pearson North America.

Mr. Hoffman served on Pearson’s executive committee for ~15 years, and was responsible for over 100 acquisitions, JV’s, and venture investments in excess of $20B.

Mr. Hoffman has served as a Member of the Board of Directors of GED Testing Service, Academic Partnerships, Ilumno Education Group, The Economist Group, Interactive Data Corporation, Escrip, Market Watch Inc., and as Executive Chairman of the Board of Penguin Random House.

Mr. Hoffman is an advisor to many of world’s largest private equity investment firms, including KKR, Warburg Pincus, Carlyle Group and Onex Partners.  He is a CPA, with a BS from Fairfield University and a MS and JD from Pace University.
