The Hon. Andrea L. Thompson is a Venture Partner in the Technology Practice of RIDGE-LANE LP.

Ms. Thompson served as Under Secretary, U.S. Department of State, responsible for cyber security, space, emerging technologies, as well as foreign military sales, nuclear non-proliferation and arms control policy.

She was the Deputy Assistant to the President and National Security Advisor to the Vice President of the United States. 

Ms. Thompson served for more than 25 years in the United States military, including: Intelligence Directorate/J2 Chief of Staff in Afghanistan, Senior Intelligence Officer for Multi-National Division (North) in Iraq, as well as tours of duty in Iraq, Bosnia, and strategic deployments around the world.

She served as the National Security Advisor for the Chairman, U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security and Senior Military Advisor to the Chairman, U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee.

Ms. Thompson graduated with honors from the University of South Dakota (Phi Beta Kappa) and received Masters’ Degrees from Long Island University and National Defense University.
