Steve Canavero is a Board Member of the State K-12 Education Chiefs at RIDGE-LANE LP.

Dr. Canavero served as Superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of Nevada, under Governor Brian Sandoval. His ambitious agenda balanced new investments in public education with appropriate accountability in order to align education with economic development, resulting in tangible student outcomes, with Nevada cited as one of the fastest improving states on the National Assessment of Educational Progress.

Previously, he served as the founding Director of Nevada’s statewide sponsor of charter schools, where he established policy and practice that was aligned with nationally recognized standards to provide a predictable and accountable environment for charter school growth. As a result of his work, Nevada’s charter school sector grew in the number and quality of charter schools.

Dr. Canavero is a board member of the National Association of Charter School Authorizers, a board member of the Council of Chief State School Officers, a member of Chiefs for Change, and an Aspen-Pahara Fellow. He earned a B.S. from California Polytechnic State University and a Ph.D. from University of Nevada.
