The Hon. Bob Wise is a member of the Board of Governors at RIDGE-LANE LP.
Mr. Wise served a combined twenty-four years as Governor, member of the U.S. House of Representatives, and state legislator of West Virginia. He is recognized for advancing education opportunities for our nation’s students, based on key legislation for evidence-based systems-change that advances 21st century learning meeting each student’s needs.
He served as President of the Alliance for Excellent Education (All4Ed), a Washington, DC–based national leader in advocating the policies and practices necessary for secondary school students to be ready for postsecondary education and careers. All4Ed led the development of Future Ready Schools, a network of 3,400 school districts committed to the effective use of digital learning to assist teachers and improve student learning outcomes. He also launched a science of adolescent learning initiative to guide education policy and practice decisions.
Gov. Wise is leading the Global Science of Learning Education Network (GSOLEN), which brings the world’s most prominent education researchers, scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and philanthropists to develop and share strategies for using the science of learning to accelerate strategies to improve learning across many nations and cultures.
He serves or has served on boards and commissions, including the Mathematical Science and Research Institute, the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards, the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, the University of California San Francisco Dyslexia Center, WASC College and University Commission for regional accreditation, the Management and Training Corporation, the National Public Education Support Fund, the Chartwell School, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation Commission on Standards and Performance Reporting, the Gordon Commission on the future of assessment, and as a Trustee of the West Virginia Wesleyan College.
Gov. Wise authored Raising the Grade: How High School Reform Can Save Our Youth and Our Nation. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University, a Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University.
