Dr. Daniel Greenstein

Board Member, Council on Higher Education


Dr. Daniel Greenstein is a Board Member of the Council on Higher Education of RIDGE-LANE LP.

Dr. Greenstein serves as Chancellor of Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), which oversees 14 state-owned colleges and universities.

He was the Director of Post-Secondary Education and Senior Advisor to the President of US Programs at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where he designed programs and led partnerships to transform education models for colleges and universities so that more students – especially low-income and first-generation students, students of color, and working adults – graduate at higher rates, with high-quality degrees or certificates, at an affordable price.

Dr. Greenstein was Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Programs at the University of California System, where he oversaw academic planning for the 10-campus, 220,000-student system.  He managed system-wide academic programs and served as Director of UC Online where he integrated digital remote education into the university’s undergraduate curriculum.

He earned BA and MA degrees from the University of Pennsylvania as well as a DPhil degree from the University of Oxford.
