Dr. Li Deng is a Venture Partner in the Technology Practice of RIDGE-LANE LP.

Dr. Deng served as the Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer of Citadel, one of the world's largest investment managers with $32 billion in assets under management.

He was the Chief Scientist of AI at Microsoft, and the founder of the Deep Learning Technology Center at Microsoft Research.

Dr. Deng was a professor at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. He also held faculty or research positions at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute, and HK University of Science and Technology.

He is a Fellow of the IEEE, ISCA, the Academy of Engineering of Canada, and the Academy of Sciences. He was an elected member of  the Board of Governors of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, and was Editors-in-Chief of IEEE Signal Processing Magazine and of IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing, for which he received the IEEE SPS Meritorious Service Award.

Dr. Deng is an author or co-author of six technical books and numerous papers on artificial intelligence, machine learning, information retrieval, multimedia signal processing, human language technology, speech processing and recognition.
